14 Creative Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day A Little Different This Year

There are many ways to show your loved ones you care without giving the traditional Teddy Bears and $5 cards. Less-conventional gifts are not only creative and fun but can show you have put extra thought into how much you care.

Here are 14 ideas to help celebrate the people you love this year:

1. Plan an experience—a day of hiking, skiing, or depending on where you live, a beach day

2. Have a carpet picnic. It’s too cold for many of us to be outside, but who doesn’t love a good picnic? Grab a blanket and some snacks and cuddle up with your loved ones

3. Make a homemade coupon book. I am sure many of us would love a break from some house chores. It’s a gift that gives more than once

4. Book a future spa day together. I think we could all use a massage at this point

5. Turn a photo from a special moment together into a framed gift

6. Gift a chess set and play or learn how to play together (Where are my Queens Gambit Fans?)

7. Get creative and make a homemade card, bonus points for adding a thoughtful note or poem

8. Breakfast in bed

9. Give your loved one a book

10. Set up a family brunch day

I asked for some other suggestions from the women in my community, and this is what they had to say:

11. Serve up your significant other’s favorite dish and let them pick the movie (Mandy Z.).

12. Make chocolate-covered strawberries (Steph C.)

13. Cut out little pink hearts from paper and write something you love about each of your family members. Then, post them on each other’s bedroom doors. (Andrea)

14. For all the women celebrating Galentine’s Day, get creative with Secret Santa style and give gifts with a theme, such as, “As Seen On TV.” (Grace W.)

Happy Valentine’s Day
