Our Babymoon at Baha Mar In The Bahamas

We recently got back from our babymoon at Baha Mar in the Bahamas. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt, and the resort was breathtaking. Although we traveled there when I was 28 weeks pregnant, I would recommend going in your second trimester. There is a lot to do and see; it’s a 1,000-acre resort, so if you want to enjoy yourself fully, I would say go when you have more energy.

There was constantly a lot happening at the resort. Whether you are just returning from the water park, settled in at one of the many gambling tables, or headed outside to catch the fountain show, you can feel comfortable being in beach attire, fancier dinner wear, or relaxed clothing.

There are a total of three resorts, including Grand Hyatt, SLS, and Rosewood, all located at Baha Mar, so between the three, there is something for everyone.

Transportation:

When we landed at the airport in Nassau, we picked up our luggage quickly and headed outside to the taxis. The taxi charged $35 for my husband and me, and the resort was only 12 minutes from the airport. They also offered a black car service for additional fees, but we went with the taxi.

When you go to leave the resort, head to the front desk to where you check out, and out front will be taxis lined up, making your trip back to the airport a breeze. It is super convenient that it is such a quick drive in a taxi.

Pools:

There are over ten pools that are HEATED, which are amazing. One of our favorites was Dean’s Blue Pool.

Dean’s Blue Pool in Baha Mar

We loved the waterfalls, and there is a secluded grotto so you can view fish and sea turtles up close.

If you are up for some excitement, there are also 8- and 15-ft. rock walls to jump from.

Another pool that was our favorite was Fortune Pool. It’s surrounded by palm trees, a large waterfall, and a jacuzzi. There is even an H2O swim-up bar.

Also offered at many of the pools are private cabanas that you can rent out for the day. Most of them provided two bottles of water and a television and were in the price range of a few hundred dollars, but we opted to get to the pools well in advance.

In addition, there is also a waterpark called Baha Bay with 24 water slides, but because I am pregnant did not spend a lot of time there. However, anyone we talked to loved the experience.

Another thing to note is that if you choose to stay at Rosewood, you can use the Hyatt pools, but Rosewood has its own private pool and beach only available to its guests.

Relaxing by the water:

Although we spent most of the day relaxing by the pools, there is plenty of beach loungers and space to relax by the water. Baha Mar is located on Cable Beach.

There is also a pier you can walk on, where we took our photos for the gender reveal.

It’s a boy 🙂

Room:

I thought the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Since we stayed at the Grand Hyatt, there were a lot of kids and families. We could hear the family of four next to us, so if you want to be entirely away from the noise of kiddos, you will want to opt for SLS or Rosewood.

In our room were slippers, 2-3 bottles of water every day, and a K-cup coffee maker with Starbucks coffee replenished daily.

Food:

One of the best parts about the resort is you never have to go too far for food and drinks. Whether you are looking for an upscale experience or more of a low-key pizza night, there is something that will fit into your style.

Whether poolside, relaxing by the water, or at the Casino tables, you will be surrounded by tentative staff.

We hit up the food trucks near the beach for a few days. Another day we ordered food to be brought to our beach chairs, and another, we stopped in for an early lunch at Café Madeline. So do what makes your heart happy and take advantage of all the options.

Special Events:

Depending on when you travel to the resort, there is an array of free activities going on as well. On our second day there, a Spring carnival was happening, and they did free face painting, had carnival games, and even had a DJ. It was full of fun activities for the kids and the perfect opportunity to feel like a kid again. 😊

On other nights, there are additional activities and experiences, such as movies under the stars, so be sure to look into the events calendar before you go so you can plan accordingly.

For an additional cost, they also offer animal feeding and touch tank demonstrations. Again, I recommend calling ahead as part of your planning as you don’t want to wait until the last minute and miss out once you are there.

Other important things to remember or keep in mind:

For some of the restaurants, it may be a good idea to make a reservation beforehand. And as I mentioned before, plan ahead of time if you want to take advantage of additional activities, such as yoga with the flamingos or golf. There are only certain days and times for some of the activities.

What to pack:

Ranking at the top of things to pack were sunscreen, a beach hat, cover-ups, and a belt bag, which I opted to carry everywhere instead of a purse.

For sunscreen for my face, I used CeraVe Face Sunscreen. I love it because it can be placed under foundation and face makeup. It’s also a product I trust because the Skin Cancer Foundation recommends it as an effective, broad-spectrum sunscreen, and it’s Oxybenzone free, avobenzone-free, and Benzene free.

For the rest of my body, I love Think Baby Sunscreen because of its clean mineral formula and it’s free of toxic chemicals.

In conclusion, the resort was gorgeous and super fun but it can be costly. It was one of the first times we traveled to a resort and opted out of an all-inclusive, so we needed to be mindful that everything wasn’t included.

Lastly, traveling for a babymoon can be stressful, so discuss any concerns with your doctor beforehand.

If you have any other questions or need recommendations, let me know 😊
